A native son from Montreal’s Verdun area, he passed away on Tuesday November 29, 2011 in Stouffville, ON. Bob had a lifelong love for music and with his band – The Rhythm Jesters in 1956 – became the first in Canada to record original Rock’n’Roll music and make records. He performed in New York City alongside Bo Diddley, The Cleftones, Billy Mason & others on Alan Freed’s big shows at the Brooklyn Paramount & became the first white act to break the racial barrier by playing on the stage of Harlem’s Apollo Theatre. He later became a popular m.c. at the Cavendish Club in Montreal & the Brown Derby in Toronto. Over the years, his records were released across North America & Europe and his music remains popular among Rockabilly fans both young and old. In June-July 2011, the Musee du Rock’n’Roll du Quebec held an exhibition in Montreal which paid tribute to him and his many accomplishments as a trailblazing Rock’n’Roll pioneer. He was also honored with the Whitchurch-Stouffville 2011 Music Town Ontario award in June. A lover of horses, Bob enjoyed his final years living on his farm and running the stables. He is survived by Celina Davies, his loving wife and partner of 52 years. Bob, you were a real gentleman and will always be remembered. Rest in peace and give my regards to Buddy, Eddie & Elvis!

Is there a possibility of getting temporary permits for overnight parking on the streets? Xmas party season thus should be something that can be done to help encourage people to cab home and leave their cars.
