25 year-old Whitchurch-Stouffville man charged after hit-and-run

York Regional Police charged a 25 year-old Whitchurch-Stouffville man following a hit-and-run Sunday morning. According to police a 22 year-old man tried to jump onto the hood of a moving vehicle on Lori Ave. at approximately 2:45am Sunday morning. Oak Ridges Moraine Trail Complete

It was 1992 when the Oak Ridges Trail Association was chartered and 2002 when the province passed the “Oak Ridges Moraine Act” Now in 2012 the 275 kilometre trail is complete. More than 40 percent is on public roads and 20 percent in on unopened road allowances. More work is needed to create a totally connected trail. Spirit Head Coach Resigns after Winning Ontario Championship

Stouffville Spirit head coach Craig Donovan has resigned less than two weeks after winning the OJHL Championship. Donovan has coached the Spirit for the past three seasons. Having been relocated by his employer to London, Ontario, Donovan said the commute would not be feasible. Donovan was also an assistant coach with Newmarket and Stouffville before coaching the Uxbridge Bruins.  Read More

Stouffville Fire Department assists Uxbridge in fighting 100 acre grass fire

Whitchurch-Stouffville fire department was called to assist Uxbridge fire department on Monday night with a fire on Wagg Road, east of Concession. The fire consumed almost 100 acres.  Monday’s wind warnings with gusts of up to 60 kilometres, contributed largely to the spread of this blaze.
